For no reason at all, I thought of San Francisco Federal last night. They were the bank that had ATMs at SJSU. These ATMs would actually disperse five-dollar bills. Yes, bless their banky little hearts, five-dollar bills. A young person needs five dollars sometimes, when their, okay my, account maybe only had seven dollars in it on most days during the early 80's. And a dollar bought you 10 lumpias from the place on the corner of South 8th and East Williams streets. Four dollars would buy you a whole chicken and you'd have change. An all day bus pass would get me to Eastridge after work, where I would fill out a credit app in front of the Sears store, which would be declined, but they'd give you a free gift for filling it out. I always hoped the gift would be a 2 liter bottle of Coke. Sometimes it would be a pen with a digital clock in it, other times it would be a star cactus. But the soda was what I would go there for.

Think I'll go have a soda right now, I still hardly ever have it in the house :)
